Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly said that in order to move his career forward he needs to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The striker won the Golden Boot in the Bundesliga last summer, but has been linked with moves to a variety of clubs this summer, including Arsenal’s title-rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

Now, Aubameyang has spoken about his feelings on whether he should remain with Dortmund, telling Radio Montecarlo Italy via Sportslens: “I am still reflecting on whether I should leave or not. This club and these fans are incredible, but if I want to grow, I feel I need to leave.

“I need time to think about it. If I want to grow, I surely need to leave this summer. I am 27 and I need to grow. If I leave, it will only be somewhere I would play regularly.”

Manchester City in particular seem to be in the market for a forward player, despite the large number of forwards already at the club. City have been linked with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez all summer, but don’t seem to have made any progress, and Wenger seems determined to hold onto the Chilean.

Aubameyang could therefore offer the club an alternative option, though he’d likely be a very expensive one, given his status in the European game, I feel. The prolific striker has made no secret of his love for Real Madrid, so I think any move from the Spanish champions would certainly be welcomed.

He’s also said in recent days that he would want to return to AC Milan if the opportunity presented itself. There are now just nine days remaining in the transfer window, so if something is to happen with the Gabon forward, it would have to be soon.
