Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have talks with Arsenal about his future on Thursday, according to latest reports.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and there’s no sign yet that he will sign an extension. Now according to Sky Sports, Oxlade-Chamberlain and the club will have a meeting tomorrow to discuss the player’s future.

Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he wants to keep the England midfielder but hasn’t managed to convince him to sign a new contract. As a result, the Ox has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

There have been various reasons given for why the former Southampton man is reluctant to extend with Arsenal. Besides the common reason of not being paid enough money, he apparently has concerns about his position in the team and his playing time.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been used a right wing-back by Wenger since the change in formation despite the player wanting to play more as a central-midfielder. He’s never hid his desire to play in the middle and could tell Wenger that he’ll stay if he gets more opportunities to play there.

There were also concerns about his playing time in recent seasons. The 24-year-old made just 16 Premier League starts in 2016/17. At the moment, wing-back is the only way Chamberlain gets into the team. He may feel that he can get more games in his preferred position at another club.

Whatever the case, it’s likely Wenger will try to convince him to stay and may end up keeping him anyway, new contract or not.
