Reiss Nelson scored two goals for Arsenal’s u23s on Monday night against Derby County, prompting Gooners to beg Arsene Wenger to integrate the 17-year-old into the first team.

Nelson featured heavily in Arsenal’s pre-season and, as a result, caught the eye of Gooners everywhere – that’s if he hadn’t already.

On Monday night, the 17-year-old impressed fans further by scoring a brace against Derby County in the Young Guns’ first clash of the new Premier League 2 season.

Nelson finding the net twice, in the 61st and 65th minutes, as well as a late goal from his mate Eddie Nketiah, saw Arsenal’s u23s overturn a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in a display that remarkably mirrored the first team’s chaotic performance against Leicester on Friday.

Nelson was highly rated before after making 47 appearances for Arsenal’s youth sides since 2014, scoring 13 goals and assisting eight, but last season was his best. He made 16 Premier League 2 appearances, scored six and assisted the same amount.

Then, his maturity, confidence and skill in pre-season caught even more fans’ attention and given the fact he’s already scored a brace, this doesn’t look set to slow down.

After the u23’s win, Gooners everywhere took to Twitter to heap praise onto the teenager with many believing that Wenger should introduce him to the first team on a more permanent basis.
