Arsenal plan to scout Brazilian talent Yuri Alberto at u17 England match

Arsenal are apparently preparing to scout young Santos talent Yuri Alberto when he plays an u17 match against England in September.

Alberto is just 16 years old but according to The Sun he is already on the radar of some of the top clubs around including Manchester United and Arsenal. The player scored 53 goals in 35 matches at youth level according to the article, and he’s also scored two goals in just 109 minutes for the Brazilian u17 team.

Alberto is able to play as a striker or on the wings, and Arsenal are reportedly going to send scouts to watch his next games for the u17s.

Arsenal haven’t made any high profile signings for the youth teams in the current window so far. The reason for this could be that there are quite a few players currently on the verge of the first team.

Stephy Mavididi has gone out on loan, but Eddie Nketiah and Donyell Malen have shown a lot of promise for the youth teams up front. Reiss Nelson has been given his competitive debut and has looked very exciting so far.

Joe Willock, Cohen Bramall, Krystian Bielik, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, all have played for the first team in some capacity, but are currently set to stay with the Arsenal youth teams, so it’s possible that the number of promising players already in the u23 squad, combined with the small number of loan moves, has limited Arsenal’s transfer movement so far at this level.
