Arsenal loanees Marc Bola and Takuma Asano featured Bristol Rocers and Stuttgart respectively over the weekend.
Asano is on loan at Stuttgart for a second season running after helping the German club return to the Bundesliga. Last weekend, he played 55 minutes as Stuttgart required extra-time and penalties to overcome Energie Cottbus in the DFB Pokal, reports Arsenal.com.
The Japanese forward joined Arsenal from Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2016, and was immediately sent on loan due to not qualifying for a work permit. He featured 27 times for Stuttgart last season in the German second division, playing mostly on the flanks, scoring four times.
The other loanee involved last weekend was Marc Bola. The defender was an unused substitute for Bristol Rovers as they were thumped 4-1 by Peterborough. It’s just as well that he didn’t play and wasn’t culpable for any of the goals.
Bola, who can play left-back or centre-back, has been a regular for the Arsenal U23 side and had a short loan spell at Notts County last season, where he played 13 times.
