Monaco have signed a young striker who can also play on the wing, getting Arsenal fans excited that Thomas Lemar could be on the way out.

Arsenal have been chasing Lemar all summer according to reports, with a bid being confirmed by David Ornstein back when the first Lacazette bids went in, and there have been reports of more bids by various other sources ever since.

However, with the number of players who have already left Monaco this summer, as well as the potential departure of Kylian Mbappé, the club have been keen to hold on to at least one of their young stars. This was especially true when they didn’t seem to have any sort of replacement ready.

When Arsenal fans were waiting for any sort of Lacazette news before his eventual signing, one of the key signs that he could be on the way out was that Lyon’s moves for Bertrand Traoré and Mariano Diaz were completed.

Now Arsenal fans have started to get excited about what seems to be a similar sign from Monaco, as they bring in forward Adama Diakhaby:

Lemar is one of France’s many young talents, at just 21 years of age, last season scoring 14 and assisting 17 in his 55 appearances. If he could transfer that sort of return to the Premier League then Arsenal could have a very dangerous attack. The Gunners fans took to Twitter to express their excitement about the potential signing, as rounded up by the Mirror:

Hopefully soon there will be some resolution to the saga, with the Gunners’ season about to get underway, starting with the match against Chelsea in the Community Shield at the weekend.
