Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Mesut Ozil to Barcelona in an Arda Turan-plus-cash deal.
Arsenal allegedly proposed a potential deal to Barcelona ‘weeks ago’, which involves the La Liga giants taking Ozil and in return, giving the Gunners Turan plus cash.
Catalan outlet, Mundo Deportivo [via the Mirror], believes Arsenal to still be keen on the Turkey international, who they’ve been linked with all summer.
Ozil meanwhile as entered the final year of his contract after signing for Arsenal from Barca’s rivals, Real Madrid, in 2013.
The Germany international has expressed his preference to stay with the Gunners but so far any rumours claiming that the 28-year-old will extend his deal in north London have fizzled out.
Until this point, the only club Ozil had really been linked with was Fenerbahce, and the lack of interest in the playmaker made it easy to assume that he was staying. Plus he allegedly renewed his executive box at the Emirates. However, now it’s all gone a bit quiet.
While Ozil hasn’t exactly been in form this season, neither has the rest of the team, and he’s once again being used as a scapegoat for Arsenal’s plethora of problems.
He’s created 12 chances in three games – the most out of any other Premier League player – but has failed to get a goal or assist.
Turan, meanwhile, is said to be looking for regular game time. He’s yet to feature for Barca this season but scored 13 goals over 30 appearances last term.
The 30-year-old has three years left on his current deal.
