Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan could exit the Camp Nou this summer and return to Atletico Madrid, according to latest reports in Spain, snubbing any Arsenal interest in the process.

Marca via talkSPORT believe the 30-year-old will return to the Vicente Calderon ahead of the new season to re-join Diego Simeone after a failed spell with Barcelona. Turan made just 14 La Liga starts last season and was expected to leave this summer as a result.

He’s said to be keen for a new challenge with a side willing to give more playing time, but his potential return to Atleti may be delayed given the La Liga giants have a transfer ban until the New Year. As a result, Turan may have to wait until 2018 before featuring for Atleti should he sign this summer.

If his former club decide to wait until their ban is over before signing the former Turkey international, Arsenal may still have a chance of procuring his signature.

Although, given he’s spent such a large part of his career in Spain, and endured a difficult two seasons at Barcelona, he may be turned off at the idea of a whole new division with a completely different club at age 30.

Nevertheless, he’s still attainable for suitors until Atletico and Barcelona announce they’ve completed a deal.
