Alexis Sanchez has reportedly been ‘dropping hints’ that he’s accepted that he’ll be staying at Arsenal this season.
Alexis has apparently been letting his Arsenal team-mates know that he’s staying in north London at least for the final year of his contract.
In direct contrast to a report from the Daily Mail last week, which claimed that the Chilean had left his Arsenal team-mates in ‘no doubt’ that he wanted to leave this summer, the Mirror insist that the opposite is now true.
The forward is now allegedly ‘resigned’ to the fact that he’ll just have to stay at the hell-hole that is London, playing under Lucifer himself, Arsene Wenger, alongside the likes of rookies Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette. Poor guy.
It’s fine though because, according to the same report, he’s still ready to leave next year when he could potentially get a more ‘lucrative’ deal somewhere else.
Wenger has always made it clear that Alexis is staying at Arsenal next season. Even if he doesn’t sign a new deal and leaves on a free next year, just having him in the side could be enough to get the Gunners back in the top four.
“He is focused. My decision is clear, he will stay. He will accept that,” Wenger said recently, reports Goal.
“[He is] good, you can see it in training. He needs to work on his fitness but he is sharp and looks like he has never been away.
“I think he will be here for this season. If we manage to do it for more seasons we will.”

If Arsenal win the Premier League or get back into the Champions League next term, perhaps the 28-year-old will extend his deal. And, if not, the money earned from just finishing higher could go towards signing a replacement. Teams get £32.3m just for finishing in fourth place and then an additional ~£30m from TV deals.
Alexis was heavily linked with Manchester City earlier in the summer but Arsenal were supposedly adamant that they wouldn’t sell to a rival and they appear to be holding firm.
PSG were also rumoured to be interested but now they’ve coughed up an eye-watering £198m for Neymar, it’s unlikely that they’ll be pursuing Alexis.
