The Netherlands won their second group game against Denmark with another 1-0 win and are looking good for qualification.

In the other game, we had a big upset as minnows Belgium beat the previous tournament’s runners-up, Norway, 2-0.

Norway 0 Belgium 2 (Van Gorp 59, Cayman 67)

Newcomers Belgium upset one of the pre-tournament outsiders with a 2-0 win although the first goal was suspiciously offside. When you know how crucial the opening goal is in any game, it does raise questions why VAR is not being used for this tournament. Norway disappointed for the second time but are still in with a qualification chance despite having zero points from two games.

Netherlands 1 (Spitse pen 20) Denmark 0

The Netherlands continued to show a positive attacking spirit in their a 1-0 win. The goal came from a debatable penalty won, by Arsenal’s Van De Donk and scored by Spitse.

Denmark should have equalised as they missed countless chances in the second half when they totally dominated.

Arsenal’s goalkeeper Van Veenendaal was superb and voted player of the match.

All four teams can still qualify for the quarter-finals as follows:

Netherlands need a point against Belgium to make sure.

Norway need to beat Denmark by three goals and the Netherlands to beat Belgium.

Belgium and Denmark need to better the other team’s result and then multiple parameters will come into play if there are two or three teams equal on points.

The tie breakers are – points in head-to-head game(s), then goal difference in head-to-game(s).
