Debutants Austria dominated favourites Switzerland, frustrating them with their pressing and hitting them on the break.

Nina Burger scored the landmark goal for the underdogs, helping Austria to a big three points.

Switzerland received the first red card of the tournament, defender Kiwic found guilty of denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Austria held on to a deserved 1-0 win and could have scored more in truth.

France 1 Iceland 0

In the second game, Iceland frustrated France until the 86th minute when they gave a way a penalty that Le Sommer managed to score.

Iceland’s game plan resulted in a lot of fouls that weren’t punished strictly enough by the Italian referee. There could have been three spot-kicks in the game, one to Iceland and two to France.

France will be disappointed by the poor overall performance, but did pick up all three points to boost their hopes of a long stay in the competition
