West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, ending their interest in Olivier Giroud.

  • West Ham will sign the striker for £16m
  • They were previously interested in Giroud and were reportedly willing to do everything to bring him to the club

It looks as if West Ham have finally signed their striker.

Earlier this summer, there were reports that they were willing to do whatever it took to take Olivier Giroud to the London Stadium.

However, that conviction didn’t get them anywhere, and they have now agreed a deal to sign Bayern Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez instead.

Hernandez, 29, will be a familiar figure to Arsenal fans as spent six seasons with Manchester United, scoring 59 goals in 157 appearances.

It’s looking more and more likely now that Giroud will be staying at Arsenal.

Marseille have ruled themselves out of the running, while Borussia Dortmund no longer need a replacement of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lyon were also interested, but have said that a deal wouldn’t be possible.

That leaves Everton as the remaining club interested, but they have yet to make a serious approach.
