Arsene Wenger has spoken about Arsenal’s interest Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

  • Wenger was typically evasive when asked about Lemar
  • He confirmed Arsenal have looked at him

One of the quirks of Wenger’s press conferences is that him being evasive about a potential target is usually a sign that something is happening.

Never one to bring a deal into the public, Wenger tends to use vague responses. So was the case again when he was asked about Thomas Lemar, although he did admit the club were looking at him.

“That’s all speculation at the moment, there is nothing really concrete about any signing. He’s a player that we have looked at, but the rest is only speculation,” he said, reports Arsenal official website.

There have been several reports recently about Arsenal having bids rejected by Monaco, and their determination to sign the French international. Monaco are believed to be digging their heels in and demanding a hefty fee, but has yet to deter Arsenal.

Lemar is said to be Arsenal’s priority target at the moment, and could end up being another £50m transfer. The winger is believed to be keen on signing but a deal may take time before it’s complete.
