Former Arsenal keeper Vito Mannone is set to join Reading.

  • Mannone will join Reading from Sunderland after four seasons at the club
  • He left Arsenal in 2013

The Italian has spent four seasons as a Sunderland player and has been wildly inconsistent during that time.

It now appears that he’ll be on the move again, with a switch to Reading all but completed, according to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

The move gives Mannone a fresh start under an exciting manager in Jaap Stam, and at a club that was nearly promoted to the Premier League last season.

Mannone left Arsenal in 2013 after a handful of loan spells and a few appearances for Arsenal here and there.

He joined Arsenal in 2006 from Atalanta, and made 13 appearances. His most memorable performance came against Fulham in 2009, where he pulled off a string of excellent saves to preserve Arsenal’s clean sheet.

He spent two years on loan with Hull City, before leaving the club on a permanent basis to join Sunderland.
