Southampton are looking at an £8.75m transfer for Yann Karamoh, according to reports.

Metro are reporting that the 18-year-old French youngster, likened to Kylian Mbappé and apparently wanted by Arsenal, is on Southampton’s list of targets should he choose not to sign a new deal with French side Caen.

He has also been linked with Monaco should Mbappé end up leaving the French champions.

With 5 goals and 4 assists in 35 appearances, Karamoh has had a solid start to Ligue 1 life for a youngster, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s ready to start for Arsenal at this stage, so Southampton make more sense as a potential career move.

However, it was just a year ago that Arsenal were chasing Mbappé as a near unknown player, so it’s not impossible that they’d be following Karamoh as well.

If there was interest in Karamoh, he’d most likely be loaned out this season, or initially settled in with the academy like Cohen Bramall or Krystian Bielik.

But more likely he’ll stay at Caen for another year to continue his development.
