Bordeaux are expecting Wellington Silva at the club on Monday to undergo a medical ahead of his move there from Fluminese, via Arsenal.
The Gunners saw the chance to make a quick £1.5m, promptly triggered the buy-back clause they had inserted in Wellington’s contract when they sold him, snapped him up for £3.5m and sold him on for £5m. At least, those were the initial figures reported. It is now being claimed that the deal is for €4.5m, which is around £4m.
Wellington will sign a four-year deal with the French side and you have to think that Arsenal will insert yet another buy-back clause. They will also, no doubt, include a sell-on clause as well.
The deal between Arsenal and Bordeaux has been agreed for ‘several days’ according to L’Equipe and the transfer should be announced on Monday or Tuesday providing nothing goes wrong with the medical.
