Sampdoria sporting director Daniele Prade reportedly met with a representative of Jack Wilshere.

Prade was originally meeting with the agent of Inter Milan’s Davide Santon, but would have also discussed Sampdoria’s “dream signing” Jack Wilshere. That’s according to Calciomercato, who claim that Santon’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, represented Wilshere too.

Sampdoria reportedly made a bid earlier in the summer, but fell short of Arsenal’s valuation of the midfielder. It’s a difficult transfer for the Italians, given they may not have the financial capability to meet the Gunners’ demands.

Wilshere is also attracting interest from Turkish club Antalyaspor, with their president admitting they were looking at the player. West Ham were also linked, but are said to not be looking at a midfielder currently.

The 25-year-old returned to first team training yesterday after recovering from a leg fracture he suffered against Tottenham in April. He has a year remaining on his contract and Arsenal are reportedly open to selling him this summer.

The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal could yet renew his contract, but only to protect his value. It’s unknown how much first-team involvement Wilshere will have should he end up staying at the Emirates.

If a move isn’t imminent, he could yet be involved in this weekend’s Emirates Cup.
