Leon Goretzka is a top transfer target for Real Madrid after being linked with Arsenal earlier in the window.

According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid are the most interested in the 22-year-old. They alleged that reports from Spain are claiming Madrid have prepared a £13m bid to try and force Schalke’s hand.

As we previously reported, the Bundesliga side have been trying to put the speculation over Goretzka’s future to bed, but he’s since won the Confederations Cup with Germany which has drawn interest from around Europe.

With just a year left on his contract and no reports that he’s close to signing a new deal, it seems very likely the German midfielder will be on the move either this year or next. If Schalke want to avoid a repeat of what happened with Kolašinac, they’ll need to sell now or convince him to extend, rather than risk losing him for free at the end of his deal.

If Goretzka does want a move this summer, then Arsenal will likely look to try to add him to their midfield options, but if Real Madrid are indeed interested, the deal may not be as cheap as they’d hope.
