Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, has once again demonstrated that he’s still a Gunner through-and-through by suggesting a rather novel idea of convincing Alexis Sanchez to sign a new deal.

Parlour, who’s now an Arsenal ambassador, has joked that his next job is to take Alexis for a night out, adding that he might just take a pen with him.

With just one year left on the Chilean’s current deal in north London, Ray Parlour isn’t the only one who seems to be getting a tad nervous over Alexis’s future. He did after all score 30 goals over all competitions last season and proved to be huge for Arsenal during the entire campaign.

The forward has been linked with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City and most recently Paris Saint-Germain but Arsene Wenger, who appears to be the only person who isn’t laying bricks over losing the 28-year-old, claims he’s not going anywhere, saying [via Arsenal.com], “No, my mind has been made up for a while now. I think I made it clear a few times.”

Alexis himself has also made his feelings quite clear. He wants Champions League football, which Arsenal haven’t got after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season. However, as the manager has pointed out, he’s not asked to leave.

Alexis was quoted by Chile’s Radio Sport earlier in the month, stating: “I have made my decision, but now the decision has to be taken by Arsenal.

“It depends on them. I have to wait to know what they want. My idea is to play and win the Champions League. It’s a dream I have had since I was little.”

There are claims that the club are actually confident that Alexis will pen a new deal before Christmas, which the Sun claims is worth £275k-per-week.

However, more recent claims from the Daily Mail suggest that talks have once again broken down and a new contract is now looking even less likely.

Parlour may have to chuck in a packet of pork scratches as well as a few pints in order to convince Alexis to sign on that dotted line if these rumours are anything to go by.
