Chelsea winger Pedro suffered ‘multiple fractures’ after his collision with David Ospina.

  • Pedro collided with Ospina in a 50-50 during Arsenal’s friendly with Chelsea
  • What was initially thought to be just concussion turned out to be multiple fractures
  • Conte does not blame Ospina for the injury

The Spaniard ended up being cleared out by Ospina during Arsenal’s friendly with Chelsea in Beijing when the two went after a loose ball. Pedro went off with what was thought to be just a concussion, but it’s now been revealed he suffered multiple fractures.

Although his injuries are more serious than first believed, he’s expected to be able to play with a protective face mask within the next 10 days.

Such injuries in pre-season would be troubling for any manager. However, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte does not blame Ospina for the incident.

When he asked if it was the Arsenal goalkeeper’s fault, he said: “No, absolutely not. I was a player and I know these type of accidents can happen. Ospina tried to take the ball.”

Chelsea won the game 3-0 thanks to a goal from Willian and a brace from Michy Batshuayi.
