Ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has called Alexandre Lacazette a gamble, but believes he will excite the Arsenal fans.

  • Parlour said Lacazette is a gamble
  • He said he was a signing the fans will get excited over
  • He hopes Lacazette can replicate his Ligue 1 form for Arsenal

The former player-turned football pundit is the latest to give his opinion about Arsenal’s record signing. Parlour believes that Lacazette will give Arsenal plenty of options up front and hopes that he bring his Ligue 1 form into England.

“Every single player is a gamble, you’ve got to take chances with these sort of players,” he told talkSPORT via the Express. “He’s got a great record in France, scored lots and lots of goals.

“He’s going to excite the fans and that’s what they want to see, they want to see these sort of signings coming into the club because last year they came out of the top-four.

“He’s a little bit different to (Olivier) Giroud. (Danny) Welbeck as well, he can run in behind, he’s another option.

“They’ve got some options up front now and that’s what wins you games at the end of the day, you’ve got to have goalscorers.

“Certainly Lacazette’s record is fantastic and let’s hope he can hit the ground running from Arsenal‘s point of view.”

Lacazette scored 37 goals in all competition for Lyon last season. He’s been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the last three seasons. Such form had seen him linked numerous times with Arsenal.

Now, at 26, he’s finally made the move across the Channel to join a club that’s been watching him for a decade. There’ll be plenty of expectation placed on Lacazette, but he’s keen to prove himself on a bigger stage.
