Mesut Ozil has hinted that he may be changing his squad number this season.
- Ozil wants to have the No. 10 shirt
- Jack Wilshere currently has the 10
The German has worn the number 11 since he arrived at Arsenal, as his preferred number, the number 10, was occupied by Jack Wilshere.
He’s made no secret of his desire to wear the iconic 10 shirt in the past, and he could get his wish this season.

There is plenty of doubt about Wilshere’s future at the club, as he doesn’t appear to be in Arsene Wenger’s plans going forward. Ozil, meanwhile, is looking increasingly likely to stay at Arsenal even though he’s yet to sign a contract extension.
Hence, there could yet be a change in numbers, with Ozil receiving the shirt many feel he’s best suited to. The number 10 has been worn by a number of great players over the years, and comes with a great deal of expectation.
