Newcastle United are interested in signing Lucas Perez and can meet his asking price, but Deportivo are the ideal destination for the want-away attacker without the funds to sign him.

When do we start the #FreeLucas campaign?

Deportivo want the Spaniard but are seemingly unable to stump up the cash that Arsenal have requested. The Gunners have slapped a £13m price tag on his head so they will recoup most of what was originally paid for him. Deportivo are only offering £8m, however.

According to the Daily Star, Newcastle have expressed an interest in Lucas and could be willing to make him the star man in their team to convince him to join. Lucas wants to rejoin Deportivo for obvious reasons, however, which might be a spanner in the works.

Depor is a club that’s close to his heart and where he had the best season of his career. Money, though, is a big issue in all this. Newcastle would be able to pay what Arsenal want, even under notoriously frugal owner Mike Ashley.

There has been talk of the forward going out on loan, either to Deportivo or Fenerbahce, but Arsenal would prefer a permanent deal. Any move has been cast into doubt after Arsene Wenger said that Lucas could feature for the Gunners next season.

However, fans are beginning to feel that the club are being unusually strict about Lucas and feel the striker deserves to get the move he wants after a difficult year.
