Feyernood centre-back Terence Kongolo has joined AS Monaco, having reportedly been followed by Arsenal.

Monaco have announced the completion of yet another signing, following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans, Soualiho Meïté, Jordi Mboula, Jordy Gaspar and Diego Benaglio. Their latest signing, Kongolo (23), was looked at by Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund according to L’Equipe.

The 6’2″ defender helped Feyenoord to 14 clean sheets in 32 appearances for Feyenoord last season, including one against Manchester United in the early stages of the Europa League. But with the Dutch league not providing the same level of competition as the Premier League or Ligue 1, it’s remains to be seen how this form will translate next season for Monaco’s new £13m acquisition.

Arsenal have a large number of centre-backs on the books at the moment, so if any are going to be brought in it seems more likely that it would be someone who could immediately fit into the starting XI, rather than an relatively untested player with potential like Kongolo.

Perhaps the more interesting aspect of this story is that Monaco continue to spend like they know another player is leaving, with Arsenal fans waiting for news on young stars Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappé…
