Marseille manager Rudi Garcia has hinted the club are interested in signing Olivier Giroud but may wait until the end of the transfer window to go for the Arsenal man.

Speaking with AFP via Football.London, Garcia said on the rumours: “Olivier Giroud? I do not know, we have a fairly extensive list, but there is nothing concrete at the moment, nothing very advanced.”

The experience coach intimated that many sides are keen on bolstering their strikeforce so L’OM might have to bide their time in the market and wait for interest to die down on their targets, with Everton and Borussia Dortmund having been increasingly linked.

“It’s complicated, many clubs are looking for attackers. Sometimes the players have other priorities, sometimes the price is not affordable for us. But we continue to work,” he added.

“And then we’ve being patient for the time being, we got Steve Mandanda and Adil Rami a little later than the recovery, even Luiz arrived a little later.

“I think we are doing well to be patient, it is a little more complicated to build the team for the Europa League, but there is not what we want in the market.”

Garcia revealed how the club may wait until the end of the transfer window to make an approach for Giroud, citing how desperate players are to move on the final day if they aren’t getting game time for their club early into the season.

“I am prowling about, and I know that sometimes there will be opportunities at the end of the transfer window of a great striker who has too much competition in his club and will decide to come and play at Olympique Marseille.”
