Marseille manager Rudi Garcia has ruled out a move for Olivier Giroud.

  • Marseille were heavily linked with Giroud and confident of signing him
  • However, manager Rudi Garcia has said the deal is not happening

Giroud was reportedly a target for Marseille this summer, as the Frenchman was considering leaving Arsenal to be a guaranteed starter else where.

The Ligue 1 club were believed to be confident of signing him, however manager Rudi Garcia has since ruled out a move.

Asked by supporters after a friendly match if Giroud would be signed, he said:

“Don’t dream, guys. He’s not coming.”

It was thought that the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette would push Giroud out of the club.

Giroud made just 11 Premier League starts last season with Lacazette set to be Arsenal’s new starting striker, that situation is unlikely to change.

Despite that, Giroud has always been willing to fight for his first team spot and enjoys playing for the club.

At the moment, it seems he’s going to stay and fight for his place.

He is currently on 98 Arsenal goals in all competitions, and it’d be a shame if he left before hitting the big three figures.
