Marseille are becoming more confident that they can secure a deal for Olivier Giroud ahead of Everton.

  • Lacazette’s arrival could see Giroud leave Arsenal
  • Everton were interested and had reportedly made a bid after Giroud spoke with Koeman
  • Marseille believe they’re in the lead

Arsenal signed a brand new striker this week, which must mean that Giroud is definitely leaving the club.

Rather than stick around and fight for his place, Giroud is expected to leave Arsenal so that he can be a guaranteed starter else where.

Everton were believed to be favourites to sign him after they reportedly made an offer.

However, The Telegraph report that it’s now Marseille who are the most confident of getting a deal done.

They don’t say what has inspired such confidence, just that they hope that a £24.7m offer will be enough to convince Arsenal to let the Frenchman go.

Giroud is open to playing in France, telling Telefoot: “I am not insensitive to the approaches of the French clubs and especially that of a mythical club like Marseille.”

West Ham and Lyon were also interested, but it seems they’ve fallen behind Everton and Marseille in the race.
