Arsenal defender Marc Bola has joined Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old is believed to have spent part of last season on loan with League Two side Notts County, making 13 appearances in the fourth tier, according to Arsenal.com.

Bola signed a professional deal at Arsenal in April 2016 after impressing as a scholar. The London club are keen to boost his development by providing playing time at a more competitive level.

As reported by Bristol Rovers’ official website, Bola said on the move: “I had a phone call telling me Rovers were interested in signing me on loan and I was delighted to come down here.

“I have been at Arsenal now for seven years and I have come up through the ranks, so it has been a good learning experience for me.

“I can’t wait to fly out to Portugal with the team and, hopefully, I can train well out there and impress the manager and then look ahead to the first game of the season.”

Arsenal wished Bola well in his endeavours with Bristol Rovers, and the left-back’s first game is expected to be today’s pre-season clash against Gloucester City.
