A deal for Riyad Mahrez looks far off as the winger returned to pre-season training with Leicester.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Mahrez, but a deal doesn’t look close. Despite wanting to leave the Leicester this summer, Mahrez has returned to pre-season training and travelled to Austria for a camp with his team mates.

This would suggest that Arsenal and Leicester are not in negotiations for the player, and that Arsenal have yet to make a serious offer for him. Otherwise, Mahrez surely would have been excused from training.

Arsenal are working on a deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar currently, and seem to regard Mahrez as a back-up option. The Algerian could be in for a long wait and several awkward training sessions.
