Lemar is now apparently pushing for a move to Arsenal so that he can work under Arsene Wenger, which is completely the opposite of what reports were saying last week.
Following Monaco turning down not one (£31m) but two (£35m) bids for the exciting 21-year-old, Goal emerged with claims from a ‘source close to the player’ that while Lemar is flattered by the interest from Arsenal, he’s happy to remain in Ligue 1 for another year in order to develop further.
Monaco were also said to be unwilling to part with another player since Tiemoue Bakayoko is about to sign for Chelsea and Bernardo Silva completed his £43m move to Manchester City earlier in the window.
However, manager, Leonardo Jardim, has admitted that the French club could lose more men this summer.
“Three players have left – Dirar, Valere and Bernardo,” Jardim said.
“Other players could leave us.
“Everyone knows our project. It hasn’t changed, even if we have won the title. The project is the same. The goal is still to win.
“Nothing has changed. It’s very important for us. What matters is the training of the young players and the quality of our game.
“The only thing that changes is that we are going to start the season being defending champions.”
