Alexandre Lacazette will become the highest paid player at Arsenal after he completes his deal from Lyon. The Frenchman will also be flown over late for the pre-season tour of Australia.

  • Lacazette is set to earn £200k-per-week
  • He’ll be allowed time to tie up any loose ends in France before joining the Arsenal squad
  • He could miss the friendlies in Australia

While we’re still awaiting official confirmation of the signing, the fine details are starting to come through. On top of being Arsenal’s record signing at £52m, Lacazette will also become Arsenal’s top earner as he pens a contract worth £200k-per-week, reports the Metro.

A few years ago, it seemed inconceivable Arsenal would ever spend such money on a player, but it appears the shackles are well and truly off. Lacazette will, for the time being, earn more than Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, but that would change should the duo sign new contracts.

Lacazette was originally expected to be signed in time to join the Arsenal squad on the tour of Australia. However, it’s been reported Arsenal will grant him an extra week to tie up any loose ends in France and complete his move to England.

He’s scheduled to fly out later and meet up the squad, but may not arrive in time to play in the friendlies against Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers. He should, however, be available for the games against Chelsea and Bayern Munich in China.
