Arsenal won’t be able to announce the signing of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette until after 5pm, when the French stock market closes.

According to reports from France, the 26-year-old’s announcement will come this evening as a result of Lyon being on the stock market and waiting for it to close.

The deal is believed to be completed and terms agreed between all parties. Arsenal are expected to make Lacazette their most expensive signing and highest earner, with rumours of a £54m transfer fee and £200k-per-week wages.

Lacazette’s arrival would end a lengthy pursuit from Arsenal, having been linked with his signature for many years before making an official bid to sign him. With 20+ Ligue 1 goals scored for the third consecutive season, manager Arsene Wenger clearly feels the time is right to sign him.

The one-club man scored 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season, six more than Arsenal’s top goalscorer Alexis Sanchez managed. Lacazette would improve the Gunners ahead of the new season and is keen to prove his worth in the Premier League.
