L’Equipe expect Alexandre Lacazette to sign his Arsenal contract today (Tuesday).
The forward was expected to complete his medical on Tuesday or ‘Wednesday at the latest’ according to L’Equipe in their Monday edition and now they are reporting that the five-year deal will be signed today.
Reporting in France indicates that the deal is all but finalised with just the official announcement to come. As we know, Arsenal aren’t the sort of club to rush this sort of thing so it’s likely we will hear from Jean-Michel Aulas long before we hear from Arsenal.
Where Arsenal have issues speaking, Aulas most certainly does not.
Across the media there has been no real uniformity when it comes to the final fee, but the smart money is on a final sum of €60m, including bonuses.
The piece in L’Equipe (above) says, “Alexandre Lacazette (26 years old) is expected to sign today his five-year contract with Arsenal. The amount will be about fifty million euros and could reach sixty in function of the bonus, which would make it the biggest transfer in the history of the Gunners and the OL. After Tolisso (Bayern), Ghezzal (non-renewal of contract) and Gonalons (AS Rome), it is another history, which leaves the club. This arrival will perhaps compel Olivier Giroud to go elsewhere.”
