Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante admitted he was impressed by Arsenal’s capture of former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and is backing him to impress this upcoming season.

The two players are teammates in the French national side and Kante lavished the new Premier League centre-forward with praise ahead of Saturday’s friendly meeting between Chelsea and Arsenal, reports the Standard.

“I know him from the national team and from what he did in the French league. He is a very good player. He has scored more than 20 goals every season for the last few seasons in Ligue 1.

“He is a good addition for Arsenal. He’s a goalscorer, clever with the ball and when he has a chance he has a gift for finishing well.”

Lacazette joined from Lyon in a deal worth £52m this summer, making him Arsenal’s most expensive ever signing. He could lock horns with Kante again in two days’ time when Arsenal meet Chelsea at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.
