Juventus have unveiled Wojciech Szczesny at a press conference, with the former Arsenal goalkeeper giving his thoughts on the move.

Szczesny has reportedly joined Juve for around £10m and will Gianluigi Buffon’s understudy in 2017/18 until the long-term Italian retires next summer.

The 27-year-old spoke to the reporters: “I’ve had two fantastic years at Roma. When Juve called [me] I didn’t have any doubt [to sign]. I am happy. I’m very happy to be here. I’ve been waiting for this day for weeks.”

Szczesny also mentioned Buffon, the shot-stopper he will eventually replace in 12 months and revealed the two have already spoken to one another. “Buffon is a very nice guy, we spoke [with each other]. He is a legend,” he added in quotes translated by Chris Wheatley.

The ex-Gunner underwent a medical with the Old Lady yesterday, which was successful, and is undergoing his official unveiling today.

Arsenal supporters are disappointed not to be keeping him after two strong seasons with Roma, having signed Szczesny 11 years ago and seeing him make over 180 appearances.
