Carl Jenkinson has been left out of Arsenal’s tour squad as he looks for a new club.

  • Jenkinson has been left behind despite a lack of right backs in the squad
  • Arsenal have been trying to sell him all year

Jenkinson’s time at Arsenal was set to come to an end last January, but a proposed move to Crystal Palace collapsed at the last moment and the full back remained at Arsenal.

This summer, his situation hasn’t changed at all, and his omission from Arsenal’s tour squad very much suggests he’s looking for a new club.

Arsenal have excluded him despite not having a single recognised right back in the squad. They’ve been trying to shift Jenkinson and fellow right-back Mathieu Debuchy for a while now.

Jenkinson joined Arsenal in 2011 in a move that was confused many, given he’d yet to play a single first-team game for Charlton and had only played non-league football.

A lack of first team football saw him loaned out to West Ham for the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons. Injury cut his second loan spell short, and he returned to Arsenal for the 2016/17 season.
