Pep Guardiola has said that striker Sergio Aguero will not be leaving Manchester City this summer.

There was some suggestion that Sergio Aguero could be close to leaving Manchester City due to the perception that he’s not Guardiola’s favourite.

Aguero was dropped last season for young striker Gabriel Jesus, and City’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez suggests that they were planning to phase Aguero out.

Guardiola, though, has come out and said that the striker will not be going anywhere, and that he intends to play Aguero and Jesus together next season.

“He’s our player. He will remain here,” he said.

There were spurious claims this summer that Arsenal and City could swap Alexis and Aguero, but to nobody’s surprise, this doesn’t appear to an option.

Aguero staying at City and Alexis remaining at Arsenal seems the most likely thing to happen at this point in the summer.
