Pep Guardiola has said he is happy with his current attacking options.

  • City have a plethora of attacking options
  • Guardiola said he wants to see Jesus and Aguero play together
  • Alexis has been heavily linked with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG

Of all the people that have had their say on the Alexis transfer saga, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had been silent.

Recently, though, he had the opportunity to talk about a deal that’s been mooted to happen all summer long and he seemed content with his current striking options.

“Alexis is a player from Arsenal. Arsene said that, it’s because he knows more than me,” he said. “We have two really good strikers in Sergio (Aguero) and Gabriel (Jesus), so in that position we are good.

“The problem we had last season was Gabriel was injured for a long time and I would have liked to see Sergio and Gabriel in more games together. We created a lot of chances but there was a lack of goals, it was a problem last season.”

City do have a plethora of attacking options, able to call upon the likes of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin de Bruyne on top of Aguero and Jesus. It’s not obvious where Alexis would fit in.

It could be that Guardiola is simply playing down the deal out of respect for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. Reports suggest that City are clearly interested.

However, it doesn’t seem that a deal is far along at all, despite all the talk of Alexis having an agreement with City. Arsenal do not want to sell, and it’s set to remain that way.
