Several first-team players are set to feature in an Arsenal XI team to play Boreham Wood tomorrow.

An Arsenal XI team led by Steve Gatting will play Boreham Wood on Thursday evening to mark the opening of their new pitch.

Arsenal have confirmed that several first-team players will be involved in the game. Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Chuba Akpom will all take part.

These players were left out of Arsenal’s squad that toured Australia and China with most of them being allowed to leave the club. Their involvement on Thursday may also rule them out of the Emirates Cup on the weekend.

West Brom were most heavily linked with Gibbs but recently said they would not be signing him. Debuchy was close to a move to Nice but the deal collapsed at the last minute. Brighton & Hove Albion and Swansea City are reportedly interested in Jenkinson.

Krystian Bielik and Eddie Nketiah, who did travel to Australia and China, will also take part. The rest of the squad will likely consist of young players as they continue their preparation ahead of the new U23 season.
