Former Arsenal defender Stefan O’Connor has been offered to Newcastle United ahead of the upcoming season.

  • O’Connor was released from Arsenal this summer
  • He spent time on loan at VVV Maastricht last season
  • Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign him

O’Connor is a free agent following his release from Arsenal. The 20-year-old was a regular in Arsenal’s youth teams but failed to make an impact on loan. He spent some of last season with Dutch side VVV Maastricht, but the loan was cut short in April.

According to Chronicle Live, O’Connor has now been offered to Newcastle. His first-team prospects would likely be very limited at Newcastle, but he would have the opportunity to remain at a high level.

His chances at Arsenal were very slim. He made just first-team appearance, featuring in a 4-1 win over Galatasary in the Champions League. O’Connor can play as a centre back or right back, two positions Arsenal have plenty of quality in.
