Everton reportedly made an approach for Alexandre Lacazette before Arsenal moved in to a secure a deal.
- Everton wanted Lacazette once the Atletico move broke down
- They backed off once Arsenal got involved
You know it’s a weird summer when Everton are one of the biggest spending clubs around.
The Toffees have already signed four players for a combined £90m and the Express reports that Ronald Koeman’s side could have signed Lacazette if they truly wanted him.
Everton were believed to have made an approach for Lacazette after his move to Atletico Madrid broke down. However, they pulled out once Arsenal became involved in the deal.
While this report seems a bit pointless, Lacazette’s arrival at Arsenal could actually benefit Everton. It could mean that Olivier Giroud would potentially be available.
Everton are reportedly interested in signing the striker for £20m. Lacazette is expected to sign for Arsenal this week for a record £52m.
