With a few new squad numbers allocated and added to the club shop website, Joel Campbell was a notable absentee.

Campbell, along with Jack Wilshere, Wojciech Szczęsny and Calum Chambers, was not included on Arsenal Direct with the rest of the players. The connection between the four seems to be that they were all on loan last season, but it could also be a hint that their futures are currently undecided.

The Costa Rican forward is particularly noticeable, however, because unlike the other three, his previous number 28 shirt has already been given to Lucas Perez.

Campbell is still currently away with Costa Rica on international duty, in a bizarrely timed Gold Cup that overlaps with pre-season, and since the tournament doesn’t finish until the 27th July, it’s unlikely that he will join back up with his teammates until late August.

Metro are reporting that Galatasaray are interested in a potential £2.6m switch, but we probably won’t know any more than this until at least the end of July.
