Thomas Muller is not for sale, according to Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

According to Sport Bild, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were all interested in the German international. Muller hasn’t had a good season at Bayern, scoring just five league goals, a particularly low total in comparison to previous seasons.

This was mostly as a result of the fact he was not able to spend as much time on the pitch as he’d like, managing 800 minutes less than he did in Guardiola’s last term, but nevertheless the people in charge at the club have insisted he’s not for sale.

CEO Rummenigge said: “Both the club and Thomas agree on the assessment of last season – it wasn’t a good one. Thomas is still not for sale because he’s a perfect fit for Bayern. This is not a matter of discussion.”

The question of whether James Rodriguez was bought to replace Thomas Muller in the side was put to manager Carlo Ancelotti, but he laughed off the suggestion.

Ancelotti pointed out that James could play in the same positions as Thiago, Robben and Ribery too, and that he hadn’t been bought to replace anyone, just to improve the team.

The links to Arsenal were likely farfetched anyway, given the number of forwards Arsenal already have, let alone the Gunners’ interest in Thomas Lemar. Muller would also cost a tidy sum.
