Barcelona have made a £26.5m offer for Benfica right back Nelson Semedo, hinting they may have finally given up on Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

  • Semedo bid may indicate end of their interest in Bellerin
  • Arsenal refused to sell Bellerin despite Barcelona’s best efforts to unsettle him

Arsenal could receive a nice boost this summer with Barcelona looking like they’re about to drop their interest in Hector Bellerin. According to Portuguese paper Record, Barcelona are preparing a €30m for Benfica right back Nelson Semedo.

Semedo is a highly promising full back who could be a long term solution to Barcelona’s right back problems. Bellerin was that solution until recently. Barcelona made every effort to unsettle the player but were told numerous times by Arsenal that he’s not for sale.

This week, it was reported that Bellerin was, in fact, not “technically or physically good enough” for Barcelona, which looks an awful lot like sour grapes. Nonetheless, Barcelona ending their pursuit of Bellerin can only be a good thing.
