Arsenal have entered a four-way battle for Nice’s Brazilian wing-back Dalbert, according to reports.

French newspaper Nice-Matin claim to have spoken to a source high up at the club, who told them: “We will not give in [for] less than €30m, the amount of his clause.

The clause was previously rumoured to be £22m, but if the source is correct Arsenal would have to pay up to £26m for the player who also attracting the attentions of Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Dalbert, who was bought by Nice last summer for just £1.7m, has had a breakthrough season in Ligue 1. His ability to play in either a back four as a full-back, or in a back five as a wing-back, is probably the reason for the links to Arsenal and the supposed interest from the club.

Having just signed Sead Kolašinac on a free-transfer, it would seem Arsenal already have sufficient options in this position. However, if Nacho Monreal ends up playing more as a centre-back in a three and Kieran Gibbs leaves this summer, then the Gunners’ options suddenly look a bit thin.
