Arsenal have the most popular mascot of all of England’s top four leagues, according to a latest report from a London publication.

The Croydon Advertiser did a ranking of all clubs’ mascots in the four leagues based on number of Twitter followers and Arsenal’s Gunnersaurus was the clear winner.

The Gunners’ mascot is regularly spotted in and around the stadium before matches, taking part in penalty shootouts with Junior Gunners during half-time breaks, and has become something of a fan favourite.

Arsenal tend to have a pretty strong profile on social media, taking advantage of all the different channels to help grow their brand, so it’s no surprise they’ve noticed the dinosaur attracting interest online and tried to take advantage by promoting it further.

Fans of rival teams have also helped the mascot grow in popularity, as it has become such an easily recognisable feature of Arsenal matches that it often lends itself to being the punchline of online jokes.

The Gunnersaurus has amassed over 17,000 followers in total, way out ahead of second placed ‘Mighty Red’, the Liverpool mascot with 10,200. None of the other top-six Premier League clubs have made use of their mascots in this way.
