Arsenal are once again being linked with Southampton centre-back, Virgil van Dijk.
- The £60m defender worth every penny
- Arsenal face stiff competition in race to sign Virgil van Dijk
- Arsenal to capitalise on Liverpool’s mistake and swoop for Van Dijk
Liverpool were the main club previously reported to be interested in Van Dijk, who Southampton are demanding £60m for. However, due to the Saints’ accusation of foul play in the Merseyside club’s pursuit of the Dutchman, Jurgen Klopp has cooled his interest.
Southampton even reported Liverpool to the Premier League for tapping up, although it seems that they won’t be punished.
Enter Arsenal, who have also been linked with Van Dijk, although not as heavily as Liverpool.
In fact, the Gunners could reportedly look to swoop in and capitalise on the Reds’ mistake.
After signing left-back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke and Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal are allegedly looking to strengthen central defence and Van Dijk is one of the best centre-backs in the league.
£60m is a lot of money though.
The 26-year-old has five years left on his current deal at St. Mary’s.
