Alex Scott has signed a new contract with Arsenal Ladies, although the length of the new deal hasn’t been disclosed.

The 32-year-old defender and current captain has played a pivotal role in the Arsenal’s history since first joining before her teenage years at the age of eight.

This is her third spell in the senior squad, and having won a number of different honours across the years it’s fair to say her presence at the back has been an important component of Arsenal’s success especially during the dominant years.

She made six starts and racked up 485 minutes of game time under Pedro Martinez Losa during Arsenal’s Spring Series campaign. The club were unbeaten and finished in a respectable third-placed.

It’s evident Scott already has a plan to enhance her career after retirement and isn’t afraid to do media work on the side. Questions over her physical performance levels have continued to increase as she’s not getting any younger, though her leadership qualities cannot be understated.

Martinez Losa was said to be delighted they two parties had come to an agreement. As quoted by Arsenal’s official website, he said, “We are very pleased that Alex has signed a new contract with us. Alex is a true leader who brings so much to our team.

She shows professionalism on and off the pitch, providing a great role model for our younger players to look up to.

The length and full details of the contract haven’t been publicly released, though it’s increasingly likely that once the time is right Scott will decide to end her career at Arsenal.
