The Arsenal Ladies youth system has produced many quality players through the years and it seems another one could be on her way out to an American University very soon.
According to the website topdrawersoccer Lotte Wubben-Moy has committed to the University of North Carolina.
Wubben-Moy is not the only English player looking to move to the States as Alessia Russo of Brighton and Hove and formerly of Chelsea Ladies is also US-bound to the same university.
UNC is a top university and their coach, Anson Dorrance, is a legend in the US game. They won the NCAA tournament 21 times and some of their most famous Alumni include Tobin Heath, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Chelsea’s Crystal Dunn, Ashlyn Harris and current Arsenal player, Heather O’ Reilly. Manchester City’s Lucy Bronze also played a season there.
As we previously reported Anson Dorrance came to England to visit a few of his English prospects, including Lotte Wubben-Moy. The Arsenal centre-back returned from injury earlier in the season and then slotted straight into the first team when nearly all other senior players were injured. She played a decisive role in the Spring Series alongside Anna Patten.
It would be a shame to lose her to a US college but the opportunity over there is so much better than what she can get studying in England.
Getting a degree and potentially a good job alongside training on a daily basis is an opportunity not many players can really refuse.
This season has seen many Arsenal youngsters move to the USA – Lucy Parker, Chiara Ritchie-Williams and Tinaya Alexander are moving to LSU Soccer while Laura Hooper is on her way to Seattle University Redhawks.
More players from the Development Team could actually leave the club during the Summer.
