Bleacher Report explores the three worst and the three best moves Arsenal could make this summer.

  • Alexis Sanchez features
  • Strengthening the midfield and attack would be our best moves
  • Losing top talent to rivals would be our worst

James McNicholas has produced a piece for Bleacher Report exploring what Arsenal’s best and worst moves could be this summer.

In the piece, McNicholas claims that losing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, Wojciech Szczesny to Juventus and Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City would be the three worst things Arsenal could do this summer.

Losing Chamberlain to Liverpool would be disappointing, though perhaps not devastating as the player has been inconsistent and injury prone at Arsenal.

Allowing Szczesny to move to Juventus could prove to be a mistake with Petr Cech ageing, David Ospina linked with an exit and Emi Martinez so inexperienced.

As for letting Alexis join Manchester City, it goes without saying how disastrous that would be.

Signing Naby Keita and Kylian Mbappe and extending Alexis’ contract are considered the best moves Arsenal could make. McNicholas presents a good case for Keita and Mbappe being long-term solutions to problem positions.

Interestingly, the prospect of losing Mesut Ozil or keeping hold of him isn’t considered, hinting that the Gunners’ fortunes don’t rest of the German’s shoulders as they do with Sanchez’s.
